Independent Adventure

Today I...
Woke up at noon.
Ate a tasty breakfast courtesy of my mother.
Jogged for half an hour. (I have lost two pounds so far wahooo only 15 more to go)
showered
went out and strolled around friendship heights (which I may add looks phenomenal)
Went to Wheaton

Visited Unique (in MD because I find more things at that particular store) and spent several hours there (found many new additions to my wardrobe for under 10 dollars including a new dress and a baby leather brief case/ bag!) I also found the MOST BEAUTIFUL bag I have ever seen which I will dedicate a post to sometime in the future because it is that beautiful to me. Best find as of yet.
ate yummy Korean food
and had a peaceful long bus ride back.

These are some of the things I have considered purchasing since I didn't do anything grand for my birthday nor buy anything except for my new animal print oxford shoes which weren't much.

Also considering the fact that I kicked ass this semester I think I owe it to myself.
oh and you might be wondering what I got for my birthday? I got two presents (sad I know) both from my boyfriend a dress and a mixtape (and he took me out to dinner). I was hoping my mother would have gotten me the camera I wanted but it's good that I didn't because I would have felt like such a spoiled brat (she took me out to dinner and gave me money). So as a present to myself I might just invest in one or two of these but which ones?

which cost a bunch but will probably be the last shoes I invest in a loonnnnng time partly because I told myself after I got tuxedo oxfords my dream shoe collection would be complete (although that's a lie I always seem to want more shoes) but I have been dreaming about tuxedo oxfords for a while and well of course black 14 eyelet black docs which seems like I will have to wait till next year to get.
If I got these I would feel like my wardrobe would be complete although realistically I always want more. Ugh I hate being so self indulgent but I just love clothes and shoes. I could care less about anything else such as electronics, cars, or fancy jewelry. Which reminds me I need heels to go out and night clothes now that I am 21. I don't have any. Oh no!


Also I am already thinking ahead about my wardrobe for school because since I will not be living on campus I will be rocking jeans and shirts most of the time. why you may ask? because a. skirts are no good to wear when walking long distances (it attracts all the dirty men), b. I won't have time since it will take me about an hour to get to campus, and c. because I miss wearing clothes like this and will probably not be able to after college.

Anyways I will post an outfit post soon, I hope. Probably the last of them because well I honestly feel kind of narcissistic when I do. I like to rant and will probably turn this blog more into a place where I can just express myself; kind of like a journal of sorts. Plus I like the fact that I only have a few followers all which I know instead of having a bunch of strangers all up on my business.

I mean I respect bloggers who are devoted and all to their blogging and keeping up with other people's blog, but that's just not my thing. I like to keep it personal.

The Term "Hipster"

Well without further ado, the term Hipster is a subculture with...

Trendsetters.
Meaning they set the trend or at least think they do, they also do not like to wear the same things others are wearing, in all actuality they despise it(by "others" I mean they do not like to wear what others wear outside their subculture)
The uniform of the hispters are skinnies, v-necks, hoodies/ cardigans and beanies.
They usually shop at American Apparel
Urban Outfitters
or H&M
which are all marketed towards this sub-culture.
They also shop at thrift stores for the one-of-a-kind-look. Despite the fact that many of the hipsters are in fact well off. IRONY.
They also have either choppy.
messy.
short.
long.
bangs
or all of the above hair.

Music snobs
meaning they hate the mainstream and listen to bands/ music artists who are "subterranean" They also think their music taste is superior.

Now most of them either listen to
a. Indie (independent music) tends to be very mellow
b. New wave, electro, electronic etc. (Think raves and dance music) or both. Never well almost never do they listen to the radio although lately many hipsters have been found guilty of being fond of Lady Gaga.

"artsy"
many of them say they love art but in reality they know nothing about art and couldn't tell you anything about the concepts of art. Also many "hispters" love to take photos and call it art but very few have talent.
That doesn't necessarily mean all hipsters are brainless about art; but unfortunately more than often most are.

Other things that hipsters can be seen doing/living
The live in urbanized places
smoke gratuitous amounts of nicotine
drink miller lite
drink tons of coffee
eat sushi
eat tofu
try to be vegetarian although secretly they are not.
go to the local hot spots such as clubs, shows, bars, and venues.
read obscure literature, nothing mainstream.
Ride bikes with no brakes, preferably skinny rimmed bikes.

Again this is just one definition of the term. there are many and this is the most basic and stereotypical definition there is--

Again why do I care? because I just so happen to work at a place where people assume only "hispters" are welcomed to work. Actually no, not true you just have to have some common sense in dressing yourself and have a shinning personality. Duh. Many of the people I work with are in fact not even remotely close to being considered a hipster but everyone always says, "oh you have to be a hipster to work at urban" well actually think again.

again Hipsterism is a subculture, just like punks, goths, skaters, jocks, etc. Except many hate hipsters because they believe that they are assholes. Wrong again. Talk to some, they are actually very sweet and not stuck up like they appear to be. Also many times the reason they may seem stuck up is because they were huge losers in high school which leads me to my next point.
Many hispters were actually into the "emo" /"goth" / "punk" / "scene" subculture when they were in high school and progressed/ outgrew out of them. So more than likely hipsters can never be found in high school.

Again there is so much more about this subculture but that would be a term paper so I will end it here with the Queen of the hipsters, Cory Kennedy although Zoey Deschanel is said to have taken her place.

no make-up nor sun. Secretly I am a vampire of sorts. I mean I got the pale part down, I'm always cold, and prefer night to day. I also got the pointy front choopers. I should be on the next Twilight movie. BAHAHA. THAT'S a joke. pussy ass shit. Glittering vampires? pansies. Wow where the hell did this ranting come from?

(Lately I have not been doing anything to my hair and I actually enjoy it more, Thank you Gods of Hair for blessing me with awesome rock-star-I don't give a fuck hair) Do like, probably my favorite physical feature of mine, besides my normal sized hands and ears. Well I say "normal" but what's normal. I guess not huge... ay? Today is a thank your body for not being a cunt day /and for giving me a presentable face in which I do not have to wear excessive amounts of nasty makeup.
